Additional Information

  • A minimum of 2 pax is required to book the 3D2N Tabin Birding Tour.

  • Check-in time is at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 12:00 PM.

  • Domestic flights between Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu are operated by MASwings (www.maswings.com.my).

  • A Malaysia Tourism Tax (TTx) of RM10.00 per room, per night applies and is payable upon check-in. This tax is applicable to non-Malaysian guests only.

  • The 3D2N Tabin Birding Tour is conducted on a sharing basis. Private tour arrangements may be available upon request.

  • Vegetarian meals can be arranged with advance notice.

  • Guests are responsible for their own travel insurance coverage throughout the 3D2N Tabin Birding Tour.

  • Mobile signal is limited within Tabin Wildlife Reserve, and Wi-Fi availability is not guaranteed.


 

Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation up to 72 hours before departure
  • 50% charge if cancelled within 48 hours

  • No refund for no-shows or same-day cancellations

  • Tour may be rescheduled due to weather disruptions (e.g. river flooding, trail closures)

What To Expect

Day 1: Lodge Check-In, Birdwatching & Night Safari

  • Pick-up from Lahad Datu town (choose between 8:00 AM or 12:00 PM departure)

  • Transfer to Tabin Wildlife Resort (approximately 1.5 hours)

  • Settle in and begin birding around the bird-rich gardens and Lipad River bird hide

  • Afternoon birdwatching along Tomanggong Road – a hotspot for hornbills in flight and perched sightings

  • After dinner, enjoy a CD/slide presentation on the wildlife of Tabin

  • Join a night safari to spot nocturnal birds and other rainforest wildlife

  • Overnight stay at Tabin Wildlife Resort

Day 2: Birdwatching, Mud Volcano Visit, Relaxing Time & Night Safari

  • Start the morning with an early bird walk in the surrounding forest

  • Visit the Lipad Mud Volcano, a prime birdwatching and wildlife hotspot

  • Climb the observation tower to spot hornbills, green pigeons, doves, and other canopy dwellers

  • (Optional) Try a natural volcanic mud facial for a fun, skin-cleansing experience

  • In the afternoon, unwind with a herbal foot soak made from local rainforest plants

  • As evening sets in, go on a dusk drive to search for crepuscular birds and mammals

  • After dinner, join a night walk to observe roosting birds, frogs, and nocturnal life

  • Overnight stay at Tabin Wildlife Resort

Day 3: Final Birding & Departure

  • Begin the morning with early birding at the birdwatching tower and along the Orangutan Release Centre trail

  • Depart for Lahad Datu (approximately 1.5-hour transfer)
